    Join us for a trip to The Icon Museum and Study Center in Clinton, Massachusetts. This museum is a truly unique place; it is the only specialized museum for icons and Eastern Christian art in the United States. It highlights the power of icons and their universal meaning for people of all faiths, races, and political beliefs. 

    Trip cost is $67 per person, which includes bus transportation & gratuity, museum admission, tour, and lunch

    Guests are welcome and encouraged

    Trip itinerary:

    • Participants arrive by 9:15 am at Assumption University’s Testa Science Center; parking is available in the Testa parking lot
    • Bus will leave promptly at 9:30 am
    • Docent-guided tours begin at 10:30 am
    • Lunch is at 12:00 pm at the Clinton Bar and Grill
    • Arrival back at Assumption around 2:15 pm

    Lunch choices:

    • Pastrami on brioche roll w/dijon mustard and sweet fries
    • Veggie Wrap w/mushrooms, roasted peppers, eggplant, tomato, red onion and mozzarella (can be gluten-free)
    • Grilled Chicken sandwich w/pesto, roasted pepper, mozzarella and tomato (can be gluten-free)

    Tea or coffee, Caramel Gelato

    Cash bar

    NOTE: We need a minimum of 35 participants to hold this event

    Candlepin bowling was invented in Worcester and was one of the most popular sports on television between the 1950s and 1980s. Presenter Mike Morin is the previous host of Candlepin Bowling on Channel 5 and is a recognized historian on candlepin bowling.

    This Spotlight is being held in person at the Worcester Public Library at 3 Salem Square Worcester, MA 01608.

    Dick Whitney (Executive Director of the Optical Heritage Museum) will provide insight into John F. Kennedy's connection to Southbridge and American Optical. Included in the presentation will be a newly restored movie clip of his 1958 campaign visit to Southbridge while running for Senate. He and Jackie are shown in this rare video as he spoke on Main Street. Also discussed will be JFK's eyeglasses that were made in Southbridge.
